Welcome again to Cookridge Village Hall for this year's pantomime - Peter Pan.
I would like to give thanks to the wonderful people of CADS who have worked so hard and given up so much time rehearsing,
building and decorating the set, making props and sewing costumes. The show has been a pleasure to direct.
J M Barrie (author of Peter Pan) had supported Great Ormond Street Hospital for many years during his lifetime.
In 1929, the hospital approached him for help with buying some land to build a new hospital wing; however,
Barrie was unable to assist with their request at the time. Barrie said he "hoped to find another way to help".
G.O.S.H. was shocked when, shortly afterwards, Barrie gifted them all the rights to Peter Pan. This bequest was later extended by
the House of Lords, so the copyright is owned by G.O.S.H. indefinitely.
Since then the hospital has received royalties every time a production of the play is put on.
This includes CADS' own production of PEter Pan, which is performed in association with Samuel French Ltd
(providing license on behalf of G.O.S.H.).
