PRODUCER'S NOTES

Welcome to CADSí autumn production, Unknown Soldiers. Thank you for supporting our society.
This show began its life 4 years ago; when my friend Paul Barrow approached me with an idea to mark the centenary of the end WW1,
with a play about the Leeds Pals. I hope you will agree that a great deal of hard work on his part has delivered a remarkable show
which offers some thought provoking ideas about a time of huge social change.

As director this show had some challenges. 25 set changes with diverse locations would be interesting enough,
even without the need to recreate a major battle. The cast have worked hard to create an atmosphere of camaraderie,
at home and at war, which only comes from being with people you have known all your life.
I must also thank the technical and stage crew for their amazing hard work in creating the sounds and images you will see and hear tonight.

This is a play that has touched my heart and reminded me of the huge debt owed to those who served their country in any theatre of war.
